The Atheist

He said he'd lost faith,
On the day his dad died.
God ignored his prayers,
And tears he had cried

Disillusioned and bitter,
He threw his bible away.
He'd never forgave God,
'Cause he had a sad day.

Chorus:
He had lived as an atheist,
Who said God didn't exist.
But God heard my prayers,
And showed he still cared.

He asked the wrong thing,
On the day his dad died.
He blamed the wrong man,
When he pushed God aside.

The man was my friend,
So I said a last prayer.
I asked for forgiveness,
For the man lying there.

I saw tears in his eyes his face showed surprise.
The man that he denied held his hand as he died.
